“It’s really satisfying to be able to help someone with a problem that you’ve been through.”

Hearing the story of how Josh started as an apprentice in 2004 and went on to make JM Homes in 2014 is a great listen. And he has a lot to say about how the industry has changed over that time too. He shares his frustrations with some problems he sees in the construction industry and has great ideas about how things can develop for everyone’s benefit.

As important as it is to put in the hours at work, it’s also necessary to look after your mental health. Josh tells us how he spends his weekends during the rugby season working with the team his business sponsors – the West Arana Hills Panthers. A great community is a good place to build relationships, but taking some time away is also important. Off-season, Josh takes his family on camping trips.

Josh tells us about his experiences working with the Queensland Professional Builders Network, getting ideas from his peers, and the satisfaction of helping someone else avoid the pitfalls you’ve experienced.

Peer-to-peer mentorship benefits the whole industry, so help a mate today.

”It’s a two-way street – we bounce off each other, we’re all like-minded, and that’s great.”
