Yes, BuildUp Australia is structured to support the future of the construction industry – and that includes you. As a prospective apprentice, you’ll have access to all of the same resources as our active apprentice members, and also have the ability to share your resume on the member network to find potential employers. When you find employment as an apprentice, we’ll then provide you with a mentor just as our active apprentice members are.
BuildUp Mentors are expected to contact you at a minimum of once each month to check in and ensure that you’re coping with any challenges that you’re facing at the time. However we encourage a greater degree of communication and support, and we’re committed to providing you with the mentorship that you need to succeed in your training as a tradesperson. If you’re ever feeling mistreated, overwhelmed, or isolated and unheard in your apprenticeship – we encourage you to contact your mentor as soon as you’re available to do so.
No, never. We strictly require that no conflict of interest interferes with the support provided from mentor to apprentice, so we arrange for your mentorship to come from an experienced tradesperson within your field who has no association with your place of employment.
Mentorship is strictly for apprentices, so when you’ve completed your apprenticeship, your mentorship will end and your mentor will likely be assigned a new apprentice from a different location. You will benefit from the network that you’ve established and the support you’ve received as a BuildUp Apprentice member as you carry on providing your unique talents and open-minded attentiveness to those in need in the construction industry.
